Observation Log, Publication Illustrating a Formal Similarity 
between Tools for Graphic design and Moon. 2018

Observation Log is a publication that illustrates a formal similarity between the tools for graphic design and those used for moon exploration. Observation log is a format originally used to examine the details of the moon or sun. Instead of scanning planets, here the tools themselves became subject matter. The booklet is composed of two; the green side of the booklet shows devices that are used in graphic design, and the brown side of publication describes those for moon exploration. All the spreads are collected together with a rubber band, and when they are unbounded, two kinds of tools reveal their formal similarities: a spacecraft and a knife, a cutting mat and a solar array.




Observation Log(관찰일지)는 그래픽 디자인 작업에서 쓰이는 도구들과 달 탐사에서 사용되는 장비들의 형태적 유사성을 시각화한 출판물이다. 본래 관찰일지의 형식은 달이나 태양과 같은 천체를 계측하기 위한 서식이지만, 이 책자에서는 계측에 쓰이는 도구들이 계측의 대상으로 등장한다. 책자의 녹색 부분은 그래픽 디자인 도구들을 보여주고, 갈색 부분은 달 탐사 장비에 관해 설명한다. 모든 페이지는 고무줄로 묶여 책자의 모양으로 구성될 수 있다. 고물줄을 풀어 묶음을 풀면 각각의 장은 우주비행선과 제도용 칼, 커팅매트와 태양전지판이 지닌 형태적 유사성을 나타낸다.
